Edited to add: It's 2013, and we're still going strong. Come join us.

The Madrid Writer's Critique Group meets group meets every Tuesday evening starting at 21:00. Ask about the location, which can vary.
We don't meet during August, which is a vacation month in Spain.

Visitors and new members with works in progress and a view toward publication are always welcome. All genres, lengths, and kinds of writing are acceptable. The group is informal, and is primarily but not exclusively English-speaking. There are no fees or requirements.

The Madrid Writer’s Club meets at the same place starting at 20:00. This group concentrates on writing exercises, and if they’re still at work when you arrive, please don’t disturb them. You can find out more about that group from David Nevin at nevin.david@gmail.com or the Facebook group:
http://www.facebook.com/groups/madridwritersclub/

In addition, a separate poetry group, Madrid Stanza, meets monthly nearby. Contact Gwyneth Box at rmp@gwynethbox.com for further details or visit: http://www.gwynethbox.com/madridstanza/

For more information, contact me through this blog or at madridwriters@patchword.com

Sue,
I sent an email a few weeks ago to this address: madridwriters@patchword.com but haven't heard a response. Is this writer's group accepting new members? Do you still meet at the time and place you mention in this post? I would love to get more information, I am a freelance writer living in Madrid, looking for a group of pro or semi-pro writers to collaborate with.
Thanks
Jacki

The group is always accepting new members. I update the post anytime our location and time changes.

Thanks for asking. Hope to see you soon.

P.S. Writers who are visiting Spain can drop in, too. No need to ask ahead of time.

Hello,

I'm a writer who has been living in Madrid for two months and I've been looking for a group like this for a while. Looking forward to coming to the meeting on Jan. 12!

Here is my blog: http://lightonbrokenglass.blogspot.com

It's a mixture of personal prose/poetry, published pieces and musings on the journalism industry.

Feel free to email me (it's my last name, Segreti, at gmail.com) if anyone would like to meet one-on-one or on the 5th, although I know there is no official meeting. I've been craving a connection with writers here.

See you all soon,

Amy Segreti

Hi Sue

I just arrived in Madrid as well and would be interested in joining the weekly meetings. However, i probably won't be able to show up before 10:30pm. How long do the sessions usually last and does it make sense to drop in that late?

Thanks, Vanessa

It's not too late. I won't be there tomorrow, but other people will be, and some stay until midnight. -- Sue
