My haiku is featured today at tinywords, which publishes one haiku per day.

Christmas eve --
the woman in the checkout line
blinking back tears

http://tinywords.com/haiku/2007/12/24/

I witnessed this: a line in a grocery store, everyone buying last-minute items for holiday dinner, and I couldn't tell if her tears were for sadness or joy.

What an evocative haiku, well done.
Your icon is also well done. Where is it and did you take the picture?

That's a photo of the Guadarrama Mountains, which is the mountain range northwest of Madrid. I took this photo last December from the window of a commuter train coming back from a trip to a suburb of Madrid. The mountains are usually snowy in winter, though it rarely snows down here on the plains of La Mancha, which is where the city of Madrid is.

Like your haiku (not my favourite form) because it's so beautifully ambiguous. Happy New Year, will try to free up a Tuesday to visit your group, Steve r.
