2007 UPC Award open

The annual UPC Award competition, which offers a big cash prize for science fiction novellas, is open for entries. The competition is sponsored by the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain, and has been held since 1991. The top prize is 6,000 euros, which is US$7,875, at today's exchange rate.

The deadline is September 14, 2007, and stories may be in Catalan, English, Spanish, or French. For complete prize rules, past winners, and more information, go to:

http://www.upc.edu/cienciaficcio/

Click on the little British flag for the English-language version. If you have any language problems, let me know. I have a Catalan dictionary.

I've read some of the past award-winners, so if you have any questions about the judges' taste, just ask. In general, they lean more toward high-concept than fast-paced.
