Let me see..

Okay, so you don't speak Spanish. It doesn't matter. Just click where it says "Fotos camada" 2005 or 2006. (Photos of the litters.) These photos are from the Iberian lynx conservation program, and those baby lynxes are just sooooo unbelievably cute.

Hard to believe such adorable balls of fluff can grow up to be ferocious predators...

I learned so much just following the lynx links (giggle), and am sorry to learn how very endangered they are in Europe.

Thanks for putting this one up!

Spain has lynx, wolves, bear, eagles, wild boar -- quite a bit of wildlife, actually. As European countries go, Spain's population density is low, so there's pretty much space for animals to roam.

One interesting thing the Iberian wolf conservation program has learned by tracking them with radio collars: Iberian wolves seem to have figured out that trying to cross busy superhighways is a good way to become roadkill. So instead, when they want to cross the road, they trot over to the nearest pedestrian overpass.

I think I understand now why Saki dedicated one of his short story collections to his lynx kitten.
